Hebrews 2:10-13

10In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. 11Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters. 12He says, “I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters; in the assembly I will sing your praises.” 13And again, “I will put my trust in him.” And again he says, “Here am I, and the children God has given me.”

Crown of Thorns, Crown of Glory

As we meditate on this passage from Hebrews, we are reminded of the profound journey of Christ, who embraced suffering and kinship to guide many to glory. In the following poem, I have endeavored to capture some reflections on this topic.

From heaven's high halls to earth's mortal fray,
O reader, behold the King, His frailty now revealed.
In a lowly manger, God Himself made His bed,
Majesty, masked in modesty, in clay concealed.

In life's long trials He walked, our path His own,

Through storms of doubt and fear, His grace, our shield, our shade.
In Gethsemane's gloom, grief's tears like tempest rain,
With us in every sorrow, courage unswayed.

From desert trials to Calvary's harrowing toll,
His faith, firm as forged gold, in grief's fierce fire refined.
On the cross, a crown of thorns, drowned in darkness,
Through His resurrection, our spirits lift and shine.

From the grave's silent sleep, a bright dawn arose,
On Easter's morn, the tomb lay open, bare and wide.
The stone rolled aside, life's beautiful light unchained,
His triumph over death, our everlasting guide.

O reader, gaze upon the endless starlit skies,
Each sunrise whispers of His boundless grace,
In His kingdom, where darkness has no clout,
At the sacred feast with Christ, claim your destined place.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, as we ponder the path of your Son from suffering to glory, help us find strength in his journey. Help us embrace our kinship with Christ, finding courage in our trials and hope in his triumph. Guide us in the light of his grace, that we may walk faithfully in the footsteps of our Savior. Amen.
