Lake Brienz is a stunning lake located in the Interlaken region. The lake is around 14 km long, and has an area of approximately 29 square kilometers.
The lake's crystal clear blue-green waters are surrounded by breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps, including the imposing Brienzer Rothorn mountain. From Giessbach lake, we will hike up to the famous tourist attraction called the Giessbach Waterfall which cascades spectacularly down to Brienzsee with approximately 400m-high escarpment,
The path immediately starts steeply up in a zigzag, past the Grandhotel to the 14 cascades of the Giessbachfälle. From the waterfall, we can trace the trail to the bus stop in Engi to Brienz or walk down to Brienzsee.
For the free and easy group, there’s a furnicular to go up and down to - from the Giessbach hotel for CHF8. But I think the walk up to the Hotel is very doable. You may want to have lunch at the hotel before going down. Then you can take the boat from Giessbachsee to Brienzsee (28mins) and meet us there for swimming at around 15:00.
What to bring:
