Scripture: Deuteronomy 10:12-22

Fear the Lord

The Lord our God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, does not change. Just as he required of the people of Israel to fear him, to walk in his ways, to love him and to serve him with all their heart and soul, he requires the same of us today. God is above all and over all. For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God….

The people of Israel are often admonished for being stubborn or disobedient; in Deuteronomy 10:16 God tells them to be stubborn no more. So also in Hebrews 4:11, we are prevailed upon to strive to enter the eternal rest, not to fall by the same sort of disobedience as they did.

Since Jesus is our great high priest and has experienced being human, when we sin and disobey or need help in time of need, we can draw near to him, confessing our sin and find mercy and grace.

We are privileged and blessed to be able to call the God of Israel our God, through what Jesus did for us on the cross.

Prayer: I would like to suggest offering a prayer for the people of Israel today, that they may recognize and accept Jesus Christ as their Messiah.
