Scripture: Hebrews 2:11-18

Big Brother

Growing up with my elder brother in a farming family in Malaysia left a lot of special memories: from seeing chicks breaking through the shell to mother pigs giving birth; plucking papaya to harvesting tapioca under the hot sun; escaping from bloodsucking leeches to being afraid of snakes, feeding the fish with banana leaves to collecting chicken and duck eggs.

My brother was strong and I was glad when he was with me. Of course, he had his limitations. I was often tempted to leave that hard and scary life.

Hebrews 2:18 shows a brother who understands. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. What a relief! Jesus helped me!

You might have had a different life and faced different challenges than I did.

Big brother Jesus understands and he loves you.

Jesus is not ashamed to call me sister! (Hebrews 2:11)
