One Good Reason to Celebrate

You got the job; you won the prize; your doctor told you relieving news; you got the grades you needed; you finally got promoted; after long years of waiting you are expecting a baby; you got rid of a bad habit; at last, reconciliation took place; you got the Covid vaccination or you are finally debt-free! There are so many varied and important reasons to celebrate.

I recently watched a short, touching video describing an incident that took place in Switzerland. A 28-year-old man, who had struggled with massive financial problems for many years, had had his debts paid and would soon be debt free. Someone had heard his story, had paid his debts and was helping him to organize his life. The only thing Sean had to do, was to sign a contract and hand over all “his financial mess.” 1  This moving life story made me think of Jesus who paid with his life for all our debts. Surrendering our life to him means to be debt-free for all eternity. By his resurrection, Jesus proved that he is the glorious victor over hell, death and evil.

This is the most important reason to celebrate!

And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you (Romans 8:11).

Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ

(1 Corinthians 15:55-58).

You will know the confidence…and the unlimited greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his mighty strength, which he brought about in the Messiah when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realm (Ephesians 1:18-20, ISV).

Let’s celebrate because this is the day that the Lord has made, let’s rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24, ISV).

The Same Power 2

The same power that rose Jesus from the grave,

The same power that commands the dead to wake

Lives in us, lives in us.

The same power that moves mountains when he speaks,

The same power that can calm a raging sea

Lives in us, lives in us.

He lives in us, lives in us.

We have hope

That his promises are true.

In his strength

There is nothing we can't do.

Yes, we know

There are greater things in store,

We will not be overcome.

 Greater is he that is living in me;

He's conquered our enemy;

No power of darkness,

No weapon prevails,

We stand here in victory.
