God in My Daily Routine

We live in a fallen world and our daily struggles are part of the refining process to make us more like God. But the truth is, do we actively involve him?

How can we tap into his power, practice faith, and have courage?

Without the influence of Scripture, my tendency is to watch and go along with the standards of the world. It is very comforting to have a wonderful church life, but what about outside of church? Our Lord wants us to be more like him, even among those who do not know God.

The following points help me study his Word and actively seek the Lord:

Studying God’s nature and his character

This helps me understand how God acts towards his people. I find that he is unchanging. He is the Creator in Genesis, the Judge in Exodus, the Lord my Shepherd in the Psalms, the Lamb of God and Father in the New Testament, a Judge and King of kings in Revelation. Knowing him personally helps me understand what it means to fear the Lord and what the extent of his love is─ he gave his only Son to die on the cross to cancel my debt.

Asking for understanding

Studying Scripture for me is to receive the Lord’s understanding and wisdom. We live in an age where information is easily available, but not everything is beneficial and edifying.

Reading Scripture aloud with others

My family regularly reads Scripture aloud during family gatherings. We find this useful for bonding with each other and with God. Reaffirming and claiming the Word of God in his promises can be powerful. Reading Scripture aloud also speaks to the spiritual realm and closes doors of opportunities for the enemy to enter.

Studying Scripture has become my daily spiritual food to be effective in the Lord. Claiming his promises and remembering how characters in the Bible deal with adversity and compromising situations help me deal with my daily struggles.

Understanding God’s character encourages me to pray for those in need and helps me reach out to unbelievers. When I see lives transformed, sinners repent and sick people healed, I see God in this fallen world and I know that God is with us.
