"Up, In, Out"

This theme as proposed by Pastor Andy Stager is in response to the IPC council's goals for 2018 and can be summarized as follows:

The life of a healthy church pursues ongoing growth in three essential movements. In short, Up, In, Out.

  • UP:  A church moves up as it seeks to grow in the grace and knowledge of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 3:18) Upward growth is expressed in a growing corporate and individual zeal for worship, the Scriptures, prayer, and obedience.
  • IN:  As a family that is being knit together in love (Colossians 2:2), healthy churches move in with intentional Christian fellowship. Inward growth happens as a church engages faithfully and joyfully in the New Testament's dozens of "one another" commands.
  • OUT:  A church goes out by diligently seeking the peace and prosperity of its host city. (Jeremiah 29:7) Outward growth means the church, corporately and individually, identifies the neighbors it is called to serve, and pursues concrete practices of neighborliness. (Luke 10:25)

Exploring the movements of Up, In, Out will give IPC an opportunity to better understand the Bible's teaching on church life, to discern our church's strengths and challenges, and to respond to God's calling with fresh courage and passion.

The theme will serve as a framework for many church activities throughout the year and should be woven through all IPC ministries as much as possible, for example:
• All-church retreat
• Adult education
• Children’s / youth ministry

Starting in Fall 2019 we will be focusing on the "In" movement.

*Footnote: Up, In, Out is an idea developed by Mike Breen.
