SENIOR PASTOR POSITION
The church
The International Protestant Church of Zürich, is an interdenominational, international, self-supporting congregation serving the English-speaking community in Zürich and surrounding areas. This dynamic congregation numbers 500 members and is growing. The new pastor is expected to take office in spring 2009 or earlier if possible.
In this position
The pastor is responsible to the church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the Biblical revelation, to engage in pastoral care ministries, to provide leadership in all areas of church life, and to act as the chief administrator of the paid staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct the worship services; prepare and deliver Biblically based sermons and teaching; administrations of the Sacraments.
- Lead the church in an effective program of witnessing and in a caring ministry for persons in the church and community.
- Provide appropriate level of pastoral care; perform wedding, ceremonies; conduct funerals.
- Work with elders and deacons and committees as they perform their assigned responsibilities; train the leaders in their ministry.
- Serve as chief administrator of the paid church staff; supervise the work of the staff.
Your profile/qualifications
- Master of Divinity
- Ordained of a denomination which is a member or is eligible to be a member of the World Council of Churches
- Minimum experience of 5 years
- Fluent in English language
- Cross-cultural/international experience preferred
