All Day
If then you have been raised with Christ,
seek the things that are above,
where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Colossians 3:1
Put On
Seeking Versus Browsing
Paul is encouraging us to seek the things that are above, he is calling us to make conscious decisions about the way we think.
When we get up every morning, we make a conscious decision about what kind of clothes to put on. And in the same way, every day, we should decide that our thoughts will be on things above.
Ask yourself the following:
- What are the three things I love the most?
- What are the three things I think about the most?
The answers to these questions will show where your affections lie.
Seek the things above is written in the imperative. You could also translate it as “keep seeking the things above.” Seeking the things above challenges us to love what Jesus loves, to think like Jesus thinks, to view everything in our lives from Jesus’ perspective. It’s an ongoing process that needs daily decisions and conscious thoughts.
Our thoughts do matter! They control our lives and determine who we are. Our thoughts can influence whether we give in to sin or choose a heavenly attitude.
Keep on seeking the things above in order to open a new reality on earth.
