Missions - Outreach

IPC MISSIONS adopted the Shan as a people group on February 2002

"We share Christ with others."

I. Thought Questions:

What does the term "missions" mean to you? How would you describe your past experience with missions? What missions organizations do you know? Have you ever been involved in a missions project at another church or with another group? If so, what kind of work did you do?

 

II. Overview of Missions at IPC

There are presently two "arms" of IPC's outreach and mission work.

Arm 1 is the committee, which donates money to organizations that have been researched and prayed over. The committee reviews each organization annually. A wide scope of charities are represented: orphanages, medical aid, etc. Please contact Jürg, Chairperson of the Outreach and Missions committee if you have any questions in regard to this. We are always looking for creative ways to do fund-raising for such missions projects.

Arm 2 is called the "Missions Network" and has just recently been formed to encourage more personal involvement in projects. Below is a list of persons to contact if you are interested in participating in this manner:

Mission Projects Supported by IPC:

 

Organizational Support

 

Beautiful Kids Ministries – Namibia

  • A day-care centre for HIV/AIDS orphans and vulnerable children in Katutura, a poor township in Windhoek, Namibia.

  • Operates under the umbrella of Beautiful Gate Ministries International of YWAM.

Europartners

  • Reaching business people with the Good News in 36 European countries.

 

European Christian Leadership Academy (Ecla) - Malaga, Spain

  • This ministry provides training in the form of seminars and conferences to Christian leaders. It is also active, in co-operation with Europartners to evangelize “in the market place” among business leaders and professionals.

 

Fundatia BIBLOS – Bethesda, Romania

  • A home for old and homeless people who need full care

  • They are very well cared for, materially as well as spiritually.

 

Hogar Esperanza – Chile

  • A family-style home for abandoned or orphaned Chilean children and babies, which provides loving care and Christian upbringing for the children while they await placement in a permanent home.

Medair

  • A Christian humanitarian aid organization geared to relieve the suffering of victims of war and disaster

Mercy Ships

  • A global Christian charity which serves the poorest of the poor in the developing world.

  • Operating hospital ships and field offices.

  • Community development projects in collaboration with local partners.

MEOS Svizzera

  • Works with all foreigners in Switzerland.

Mission to the Unreached

  • Uplifting the downtrodden who are deprived socially, politically, economically, and spiritually.

  • Training pastors and church workers

  • Church planting

  • Homes for abandoned/orphaned children

  • Community serving programs

 

NetZ4 – Zürich

  • Network of programs for the underprivileged in Zürich's Kreis 4, known for problems with prostitution and drugs.

  • Training programs for the unemployed, professional counseling, clubs for boys and girls, a cafe for youth, and free-time activities.

  • IPC helps to sponsor the distribution of food vouchers and invitations to a special Christmas Eve.

  • This ministry has been adopted by the Au/Wädenswil and Meilen home groups.

 

Open Doors International

  • It strengthens and equips the body of Christ facing restriction and persecution because of their faith in Jesus Christ.

Resgate – Switzerland

  • Outreach to Brazilian women who are trapped in prostitution in Switzerland.

  • Assisting these women in returning home.

  • Providing spiritual and therapeutic aid after their return.

 

St. Mary’s Orphanage – George, South Africa

  • A hospice, community care and a Child and Family Center for children who are destitute or suffering from AIDS or abuse.

  • This project has been adopted by the Rüti/Oberland home group.

 

Project Support

 

Foundation for the handicapped people – Moldova, Capriana

  • Supports mentally and physically handicapped people in Moldova.

  • These people receive material and spiritual support as well as professional counseling.

 

The Bastar Project

  • A Christian educational institution and network based in New Delhi

  • Provides literacy centers and programs for outlying tribal groups in India.

  • Bible translations have been made in tribal languages and are being printed.

 

Bible schools – Jaunjelgava, Latvia and Feketics, Serbia

  • Two 5-day Bible schools, each attended by 30 to 50 people

 

Chisinau Farm Project, Gura Ghalbinei, Moldova

  • Pastor Dron has a congregation of about 40 people in his village.

  • He also takes care of several other churches in his region that do not have their own pastor.

 

Crossbearers – Pakistan

  • Teaching and writing of Christian literature specifically for Muslims in Pakistan.

  • Church planting among refugees from Afghanistan.

 

Lesotho Projects

  • Pastor Obed and his wife pastor a church and do church planting further afield.

  • A brick-making project helps both in building their own churches and schools and also to help with finances by selling the extra bricks.

 

Trinity Fellowship – Nairobi, Kenya

  • This Christian, interdenominational youth and student ministry is dedicated spreads the Gospel in schools, colleges, universities, and churches.

 

Missions Preparation & Training

The money collected at Harvest Festival is placed into a separate fund and used to train individuals from IPC who have a heart for missions.

 

Adopt-a-Project

Home groups are encouraged to prayerfully consider adopting an IPC missions project (or missionary), to pray for the needs of that project and then organize a matching for the project – if applicable.
