IPC Zurich

Associate Pastor

Rev. Scotty Williams

Since coming to faith in Christ through the preaching of Rev. John J. Harris of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist in February of 1991, Scotty has embarked upon a journey that has taken him from his small Louisiana hometown to places such as East Africa and Central Europe. Having answered the call to ministry in 2004, under the leadership of Rev. Rholand P. Whitcomb of Morrison Baptist Church, he became a minister of the Gospel. Through authentic pastoral care and expository preaching, Scotty seeks to go about holistic ministry that others might know Christ, turn to Him in genuine faith, be conformed to His image and reflect God to the world. Before coming to IPC, he served as an Assistant Minister at Morrison Baptist Church and worked in various capacities in ministries to the youth and homeless of Minneapolis. Scotty has also organized and led independent mission trips to New Orleans that have partnered with YWAM.

He has been an active member of several fellowships such as the Black Alliance of Reformed Theology and Reformed Blacks of America, which work to bring about theological and social renewal by promoting Reformed Christianity within the Black church. Scotty is also the only known Protestant minister of Louisiana Creole descent who is actively working to formulate a Louisiana Creole expression of Reformed theology. In November of 2010 he was chosen by the board of iamcreoleNetworks to recieve its Top 30 Creole Changers of 2010 award in recognition of his work as a "Creole Evangelist".

After completing his Bachelor of Science in Ministry at Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minnesota, Scotty went on to complete a Master of Arts Theological Studies in Church History. While working on his Masters, he developed a passion for reaching out to post-modern people through the world of story and to make Christianity relevant to them through sharing the stories of the ancient church. He has also used the world of story in the ancient churches and saints of Africa to reach out to former African American Christians who have deemed Christianity as a European religion.

Scotty is married to Maria, who is from Switzerland and is working towards being a primary school teacher. They have no children, and though they come from different backgrounds they see their differences as an enriching element to their marriage. Together they share a faith in Christ and a great love for canton Aargau, and have a vision for a renewal of the faith among Swiss youth and a new reformation among the churches of Switzerland. In living up to their shared faith and vision, they have worked with free church youth ministries and participated in outreach events in the Reformierte Landeskirche of Aargau.
